Our Mission

MyChild’sCancer Founder, Oded Grinstein sharing our Mission.

Childhood cancer is very rare but because of this, parents and caregivers often struggle to find information that could save their child’s life.

“When our child gets sick with a rare cancer, we become experts on that specific type, working so hard to get this knowledge. It is just a waste keeping this information to ourselves. That is why this project is so significant.”

- Oded Grinstein, Founder of MyChild’sCancer

Patient Advocacy

We facilitate access to treatment.

When a child needs a drug that is not available where they live, we will reach out to the Pharma company to make it happen. When a treatment requires relocation, we will reach out on behalf of the family to relevant cancer centers.

We will translate documents if needed, help with finding insurance, negotiate medical bills, and help parents understand their rights.

Throughout the family’s journey, our case managers will provide mentorship and guidance, and translate medical documents and “doctor speak” to Layman’s terms.

Oded's Story

MyChild’sCancer (MCC) was founded in 2010 by Oded Grinstein following his family’s long struggle against childhood cancer.

His daughter, Shani, was only nine months old when she was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive type of sarcoma. Oded struggled to find information about the cancer threatening his daughter’s life. Shani was fortunate enough to be admitted for treatment to one of Israel’s leading hospitals, but the doctors there – experienced as they were – had never treated this specific type of cancer. The family eventually moved from Israel to the United States to find the right doctor to treat Shani.

“Words can not describe your professional yet warm support during this
difficult time in our lives.

You are truly one of a kind. You represent a winning combination of love and affection, empathy, wisdom, out-of-the-box thinking and experience. Your support helped us tremendously to go through these tough times in our lives.”

— The Milfelder family (February 2014)
